DUTIES: The HIM Outpatient Coder codes and abstracts outpatient referrals, EMS, Sleep Studies, and recurring patient records. 

EDUCATION: Minimum requirement is successful completion of a coding certificate program with AHIMA approval status.  Must be eligible and willing to sit for the CCS or CPC-H certification examination within one year of employment. 

EXPERIENCE: Basic coding experience through an AHIMA approved coding internship program.  Prefer experience working in a hospital environment.

REQUIREMENTS:  Must be high school graduate or equivalent.  RHIT, CCS-P, CPC-H OR eligible CCS certification status preferred.  Must have keyboarding skills, medical terminology and pass a data entry test.  Must be customer service oriented and have a stable work history.
