JOB SUMMARY:  The Utilization Review and Quality Improvement Secretary and Data Specialist researches information, maintains records, performs secretarial duties, performs data entry, compiles reports, completes special projects and other related duties.

The ideal candidate has excellent organizational skills and superior customer service attitude;  excellent computer skills, including building reports, tracking and trending, data compilation;  knowledge of Excel and Microsoft.  Knowledge in the following areas is preferred: Meditech and Midas software, TJC, insurance providers both public and commercial.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:           

  • Retrieves medical records, records statistics, and compiles data
  • Researches and obtains pertinent information from department data sources
  • Maintains and records UR and QI information (minutes and reports) to include: accurate typing of all documents, and proofreading the information
  • Performs data entry into the computer terminal. (Meditech, Midas)
  • Coordinates all QI/UR Committee meeting preparations to include scheduling conference rooms, ordering meals, mailing notices, preparing agendas, notifying committee members of  forthcoming meetings and compiling information packets
  • Maintains daily operations of the UR and QI Office to include answering the telephone, relaying messages, ordering supplies, maintaining office equipment, ordering maintenance work, organizing files and notebooks, copying, transporting mail and messages to and from the mail room, delivering messages and picking up any items outside or within the facility as requested and maintaining orderly department records through filing
  • Enters hospital census activity for the UR Department by 0830 AM in the census spreadsheet
  • Develops and provides statistical graphs as needed for Departmental and Committee activities
  • Closes all third party payer cases
  • Delivers documents to physician offices as requested using personal vehicle                                             

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  High school degree or equivalent.

Experience:  Previous computer and data entry experience required.
