JOB SUMMARY:     This position is responsible for supervising Patient Accounts staff which consists of billing, collections, cashiering and customer service.  Work involves the direct supervision of all billing, collections, customer service and clerical staff within the office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:       

  • Supervises Patient Accounts staff.
  • Supervises and coordinated the hospitals policies in the field of patient financial services to include but not be limited to budgeting, finances, and reporting.
  • Keeps the director informed of any developments within their area of responsibilities, which may require action, or be pertinent to the performance of their duties, through appropriate written reports and through such other means as requested by the director.
  • Provides support to the director in financial reporting.
  • Serve on operational committees with department heads, staff and faculty to review needs, create and/or update policies impacting the institution's internal structure.
  • Interact with outside agencies such as banks, outsourcing vendors and collection agencies as needed.
  • Oversee collection of patient accounts.
  • Oversee billing of patient accounts.
  •  Maintains dictionaries and tables in hospital information system.
  • Responds to patient complaints as needed.
  • Ensures daily cash is posted to the patient accounting system daily.
  • Monitors daily employee output.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Education:      High school graduate education or the equivalent.

Experience:    3 years patient financial services experience.  Served in management role.  A strong background in government programs and billing/follow-up is preferred.
