Summary

The Wound Care LPN provides patient care that is continuously evaluated, planned for, and revised as needed; patient's status is documented within the reassessments; patient care needs; interventions to meet the patient's needs; nursing care provided; the patient's response to; and the outcome of care provided; organizes and prioritizes work to provide health information, discharge planning, and patient care in a safe environment to maximize health in the continuum of care and protect the patient; assumes responsibility for and assigned group of patients and be accountable for an assessment of the patient's basic human needs, enabling team of providers to make appropriate decisions to develop, implement and evaluate a plan for care, to include bio-physical needs, bio-psychological needs, environmental/safety needs, self care needs, educational needs, discharge planning needs; professional and competent as a care provider, a leader of personnel, and a collaborator with other professionals; demonstrates awareness of his/her unique position in the Department and responsibilities as a professional nurse through accurate, clear, concise and timely written and oral communications.

This Wound Care LPN will receive Hyperbaric Technician Certification and shall assume complete responsibility for the safe and effective operation, control, and maintenance of the Hyperbaric Chamber systems and all supporting components. The hospital will pay for the training of the certification.  He/She shall make necessary recommendations for departmental safety policies and incorporate new safety procedures as appropriate. He/She shall have the authority to restrict and remove any potentially hazardous supply or equipment items from hyperbaric environment.  He/She shall provide leadership for the technical personnel and supervise their standards for department training and qualification programs relating to safe operation of the chamber system.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate
  • Hyperbaric Technologist Certification or be willing to attain
  • Graduate of an accredited school of EMT (Basic) or equivalent medical training
  • Prefer one year clinical hyperbaric systems operation, or prefer qualification as a U.S. Navy Deep-Sea Diving Medical Technician or Special Operations Technician.
  • Must attend a UHMS approved hyperbaric course (hospital will pay for this course)
  • LPN or LVN certification
  • Minimum of two years medical office experience
